Bali is on track to become the home of arguably the longest and largest rooftop swimming pool globally, as the Magnum Residence Berawa Complex nears completion in Canggu, Bali.

The rooftop pool, situated on Bali’s west coast, will stretch an impressive 190 meters, surpassing all others and earning the developers the claim of creating the world’s largest rooftop pool. This dwarfs the current record held by the 146-meter pool atop the Marina Sands Hotel in Singapore.

Once finished, The Magnum Residence Berawa will feature 150 luxury apartments, all within 500 meters of Berawa Beach. Each unit will showcase a high-tech Smart Home design, complemented by top-notch furnishings.

The apartments are available in various configurations, with a one-bedroom unit spanning 81 square meters priced at US$350,000, while a two-bedroom unit covering 162 square meters is listed at US$590,000.

Magnum Estates, a significant foreign investment property enterprise in Bali, is overseeing the development of at least five property complexes, including those in Canggu, Umalas, and Sanur.

Units are being marketed to both local and foreign investors as managed rental units with guaranteed rates of return.

The Magnum Residence Berawa Complex is currently under construction and is slated for completion in 2025.

The Grand Kuta Inna Hotel, prominently located on Bali’s iconic Kuta Beach, has officially rebranded as Truntum Kuta.

This significant name alteration was commemorated at Truntum Kuta’s Mentari Beach Bar on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. The event embraced the theme “Cetu Murtaning Rat,” inspired by a Hindu epic from the Ramayana, symbolizing the arrival of a new era. This story recounts how the White Monkey god, Hanoman, constructed a bridge leading to a “better situation.”

In a similar vein, the transformation of the Grand Inna Kuta Hotel into Truntum Kuta marks a fresh chapter in the history of one of Kuta’s most historic hotel properties. First opening its doors 62 years ago, the hotel experienced its initial name change in 1974 when it became the Natour Kuta Beach Hotel. Subsequently, in 2001, it adopted the name Inna Kuta Beach before changing once more in 2013 to Grand Inna Kuta. From its original name in 1961 to its latest avatar as Truntum Kuta, the hotel has operated under five distinct names.

Thory Prabawa, Director of Hospitality Businesses and Partnership Management for PT Wijaya Karya Realty, the owner of Truntum Kuta, expressed confidence that the property will continue to attract tourists seeking a genuine “Kuta Experience,” especially during New Year celebrations.

As quoted by Kompas.com, Prabawa stated, “We believe that Truntum Kuta will become a preferred staycation destination that reflects the rich charm of Balinese culture, offering a unique blend of authentic Balinese traditions with a touch of luxury.”

The name-changing event on October 11, 2023, was also used to introduce Truntum Kuta’s new staff uniforms in a fashion show.

The popular Turkish hotel chain Alva Donna, cherished by tourists, will undergo a name change and become Dobedan Hotels. As of November 1, travelers will still be able to enjoy their stays at Exclusive Hotel Belek in Belek, World Palace Kemer in Kemer, and Beach Resort Side in Side. However, there is a significant twist – these hotels will have new names.

According to travel agents, tourists can expect improved conditions in these popular hotels after the rebranding. In addition to the existing management structure and staffing policies, they will introduce additional benefits. These enhancements will include expanded dining options and the refurbishment of certain areas within the hotels. The concept is also set to evolve, and its updated version will be introduced to visitors in October.

As reported on TourDom.ru, Alva Donna ceased to exist after its owner passed away during the summer. According to speculations, three close relatives of the former owner claimed their inheritance rights, assigning different names to each hotel. Another version suggests that the business was sold, and the new owner decided to change the network’s name.

Preparations for the rebranding were reportedly underway from August. Tourists confirmed this by sharing photos and videos on social media from Turkey. They noted that the name Alva Donna was being left behind as new signs with the name Dobedan were installed.

Despite comments from tourists indicating no significant disruptions in service, concerns are emerging among professional experts. In the tourism industry, it is suggested that employees may not be pleased with the new conditions. While the beaches and facilities are set to improve, the level of hospitality remains uncertain.

Building on the triumph of The Apurva Kempinski Bali’s debut in 2019, Kempinski Hotels has now confirmed the signing of a management agreement for an elevated resort in Ubud, situated in Central Bali. Nestled amid the lush rice terraces and coffee plantations of Tegalalang Village, The Apurva Kempinski Ubud, Bali, stands as the latest endeavor in hospitality by Indonesian real estate developer P.T. Panorama Indah Dewata.

Bernold Schroeder, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Executive Board of the Kempinski Group, shared his thoughts on the venture: “We’re tremendously excited to introduce our second Balinese property in collaboration with PT. Panorama Indah Dewata, reaffirming our dedication to delivering extraordinary hospitality experiences in the world’s most enchanting locales.”

Expanding on his statement, Schroeder added: “With this new inclusion in our Indonesian portfolio, travelers will have the chance to relish two distinct Balinese encounters. This encompasses the beachfront luxury of Nusa Dua and the tranquil hillside escape in the heart of Ubud. Both experiences are underpinned by the warmth and graciousness of Balinese hospitality.”

Set atop a south-facing ridge, The Apurva Kempinski Ubud will overlook the captivating heart of Bali. Similar to its counterpart in Nusa Dua, the hotel’s interior design will be shaped by Rudy Dodo of Jakarta’s Trivium Design Group, who will also be in charge of the architectural design.

The resort will comprise 160 elegantly adorned rooms and villas that will cascade down the verdant slopes, encircling a striking open-air lobby lounge. This immersive space, reminiscent of Kempinski’s sister hotel in Nusa Dua, will immerse guests in Indonesia’s vibrant cultural heritage.

The accommodations encompass expansive rooms and suites, starting from 60 square meters. Panoramic Cliff Villas will feature outdoor decks and private pools seamlessly integrated with the natural surroundings, while six spectacular 200-square-meter Villas will be nestled within the forest.

Guests will enjoy breathtaking views from a stunning infinity pool, while a rooftop lounge and bar offer a perfect spot to relish stunning sunsets over the jungle. Culinary delights await at the resort’s specialty restaurant, where panoramic vistas complement an exceptional dining journey celebrating the diversity of Indonesian cuisine.

The resort will also house a tranquil Balinese spa, offering a diverse range of rejuvenating treatments and immersive wellness experiences, situated at the ridge’s end with a captivating view of the valley beyond. At the heart of the resort, a tropical aviary will offer a sanctuary for a myriad of exotic bird species from Indonesia and beyond, including the critically endangered Bali mynah, also known as the Jalak Bali.

Anticipated to unveil in 2027, The Apurva Kempinski Ubud will become the second Kempinski Resort in Bali, following the successful launch of The Apurva Kempinski Bali in 2019. Furthermore, this marks the third management agreement, succeeding the announcement from last year for The Apurva Kempinski Lombok, set to open in 2027.

Grace Katuari, Chief Executive Officer of PT. Teluk Agung Alami, stated, “Over the last five years, we’ve partnered with Kempinski to introduce new echelons of luxury hospitality to Indonesia, curating a collection of extraordinary properties infused with the essence of Indonesian culture.”

“Kempinski brings operational excellence and a touch of European refinement to our properties. We’re excited to embark on the next phase of this thrilling journey together.”
